I AM ATTRACTED TO YOU

I started talking to this guy at a party, “If you could pick someone from this room, at this event, that you would want to ask out, who would it be?”

I asked him because anyone that you are really attracted to will feel the same. History has shown this. People couple, triple and so forth all the time. Some people had to do it, however many years ago, for you to be here, now. Evolutionarily speaking, it would only make sense to be drawn to people who would be able to reciprocate those emotions.

He played along, out of politeness, or lack of a graceful exit strategy. He chose someone, around his age, across the room, at the buffet. I didn’t know her. Which made sense, because I didn’t know anyone there that night. I tried to convince him that he should ask her out. That he should let the magnetism he felt towards her act as reason enough not to let her go.

He left, claiming he had a headache, and shortly after she introduced herself to me. She sat down next to me, which is odd because no one ever does this anymore. Meeting people is almost impossible. She asked me if I was dating the aforementioned guy. I said “No.” She explained she had been longing to ask him out all night.
